Overview

This is a senior-level position that requires a high level of expertise and autonomy in decision-making. Travel may be required to visit project sites, attend meetings, and represent the organization at industry events and conferences. The role may involve working with cross-functional teams and external partners across different geographical locations.


Responsibilities

  • Strategic Guidance: Provide expert guidance and strategic advice on the development and execution of renewable energy projects, including solar, wind, batteries, microgrids, hydro, and others. Help develop and implement strategic plans and objectives for renewable energy initiatives in alignment with organizational goals and industry trends.
  • Project Assessment: Evaluate the feasibility and viability of potential renewable energy projects, considering factors such as technical feasibility, financial viability, regulatory compliance, and environmental impact.
  • Project Management Support: Advise Customer Project Management organization on the planning, execution, and monitoring of renewable energy projects from inception to completion, to ensure they are completed on time and within budget.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, including government agencies, industry partners, community organizations, and investors, to facilitate project development and garner support.
  • Risk Management: Identify potential risks and challenges associated with renewable energy projects and develop strategies to mitigate them effectively.
  • Market Analysis: Support customer led market research and analysis to identify trends, opportunities, and emerging technologies in the renewable energy sector.
  • Policy Analysis: Stay abreast of relevant regulations, policies, and incentives related to renewable energy and provide insights on their implications for project development.
  • Financial Analysis: Support customer led financial modeling, cost-benefit analysis, and ROI calculations to assess the financial feasibility and attractiveness of renewable energy projects.
  • Technical Oversight: Provide technical oversight and expertise throughout the project lifecycle, ensuring that projects are designed, implemented, and operated to meet industry standards and best practices.
  • Capacity Building: Support and assist Customer on the development and delivery of training programs, workshops, and educational materials to build internal capacity and expertise in renewable energy project development.
  • Reporting: Support Customer Project Management organization to prepare and present reports on project progress, key performance indicators, and financial metrics to senior management and stakeholders.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in engineering, environmental science, renewable energy, or a related field.
  • Extensive experience (typically 15+ years) in renewable energy project development, with a proven track record of successful project delivery.
  • Strong understanding of renewable energy technologies, project finance, regulatory frameworks, and market dynamics.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Effective communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to build consensus and influence stakeholders at all levels.
  • Project management certification (e.g., PMP) and/or relevant professional certifications (e.g., LEED, CEM) are desirable.
  • Leadership experience, with the ability to mentor and coach junior team members.
  • Demonstrated commitment to sustainability and renewable energy advocacy.
